Revenue, not profit: what a Proof record means
Screenshots of dashboards are easy to fake and hard to check. A Proof record is different: Proof reads the figure straight from the connected source, with read-only access, and records when it checked and how.
What a verified record says
- This metric, for this closed period, matched the connected source when Proof checked it.
- Refunds are handled the way the method page describes.
- The check has a date, and a newer check replaces an older one. History is never edited.
What it doesn't say
- It's not profit. Revenue says nothing about costs.
- It's not an audit, a valuation or investment advice.
- It doesn't verify a person, only a claim.
- Payment volume isn't automatically revenue, and totals from two sources aren't simply added together.
That narrowness is the point. A small claim that's actually checked is worth more than a big one nobody can confirm.
