Profile marks

The small marks next to names on Proof, what each one means, and how to get it.

How marks work

Checks are earned, never bought. A paid plan has its own mark, and it never looks like a check.

  1. Earned

    Proof Verified

Shown while a profile has at least one public record that is currently verified from its source, like Shopify or Stripe. It's live: if the records lapse or are withdrawn, the check goes away.

How to get it: Connect a source, verify a completed period and publish the record.

  2. Earned

    Streak rings

A ring grows around the check for consecutive months backed by verified records: a third at 3 months, two thirds at 6, and a full ring at 12.

How to get it: Keep publishing verified records month after month. It can't be bought or rushed.

  3. Paid membership

    Proof Pro

A gold diamond for members on a paid plan. It's deliberately not a check: paying never says anything about someone's numbers.

How to get it: Any paid plan: Pro, Business, Scale or Enterprise. You can hide it in Settings.

  4. Earned

    X account linked

The person proved they own their X account by posting a one-time code from it. It confirms the account, not any number.

How to get it: Link X from your profile settings.

  5. Permanent

    Founding member

One of the first 100 members to back Proof at the founding price, numbered in order. The number stays even if the plan ends, and is never handed out again.

How to get it: Given to the first members who backed Proof at the founding price. No longer offered.

  6. Permanent

    Early member

One of the first 1,000 people on Proof, numbered in the order they joined. It never changes and is never handed out again.

How to get it: Join while there are numbers left.

Why it works this way

On most platforms the check stopped meaning anything once it could be bought. On Proof, the marks that look like verification only come from verified records, and they update as those records do.
